EGYPTIAN AFFAIRS.
Cairo, Dec 2, The trial of Arabi was concluded to-day. Ho was found guilty of the charges laid against him and was condemned to death. The Khedive has, however, since commuted the sentence to exile. Arabi pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him and the trial was speedily concluded, it is believed that he will be exiled (o some English territory.
London, Dec. 4. The Khedive has granted an amnesty to all minor offenders. Arabi Pasha exhibited a calm dignified demeanor throughout his trial. The Europeans in Egypt are highly indignant at the farcial nature of the proceedings, ■while the natives rejoice greatlyat the result. The English Press highly eulogises Lord Dufferin’s tact in the matter of Arabi’s trial Dec. 5, The Butish Government has recommended General Sir Evelyn Wood to the Egyptian Government for the appointment of Commander-in-chief of the Egyptian army.
