MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 17th inst. Present—Messrs G. J. Dennistoun, Heney, C. G. Tripp, and R. Mack ay. In the absence of the Chairman, Mr Tripp was voted to the choir. MINUTES, The minutes of the last meeting were read and. confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and considered : From the Timaru Harbor Board applying for the use nf the Road Board Office for the public meeting to be held in connection with the proposal to raise a loan for harbor works. The request was granted. From Mr L. Harper attorney for Mr H, Hoare, conveying bis consent to a road being taken through sections 5 )291 and 28579. The Clerk was directed to acknowledge the receipt of the same. From the. Mount Cook Road Board, forwarding a statement of accounts in connection with the building of footbridge over the Opilii atFairlie Creek. The account was passed for payment, From Mr Eugene Lorgelly, requesting the Board to remove two gates from off the road in Peel Forest.

Resolved— ‘ That the Board having granted permission for the erection of the crates, and as one of them was stated O 3 by Mr Lorgclly to be of convenience to himself, they do not consider it necessary to remove them.’ From Mr W. Smith, asking for timber to make an entrance into his property. The request was granted. INTERVIEW. Mr Thomas Blair had an interview with the Board in reference to the payment for replanting the trees destroyed by fire. After considerable discussion it was resolved that he be let off on paying one half the cost of replacing the trees, viz., £7 10s. Mr Blair agreed to the proposal. GORSE OK ROADS. Resolved— ‘ That in cases where owners of land have neglected to cut their fences and grub up the gorse,growing on the adjoining roads, the Overseer get the work done and charge the cost to the owners of the land adjoining.’ THE CHAIRMAN. The Hon. J. Barton Acland here took his seat as Chairman, DELAYED CONTRACT. Resolved —‘ That notice be given to the contractor for Ho 17 contract to proceed with the work, without delay, and to have it completed within contract time as no extension of time will be given.’ REPAIRS TO FOOTBRIDGE. The Overseer was instructed to repair the footbridge over Scotsburn Creek. ACCOUNTS. After passing accounts to the amount of £lOl9 7s Bd, the Board adjourned.
