EGYPTIAN AFFAIRS.
Alexandria, Sept. 6. The murderers of Messrs Dobson and Richardson, who were killed during the massacre in this citj in June last, have been identified, and were publicly hanged to-day. Order has now been completely restored in the neighborhood of Ramleb. Sept. 7. Dysentry is spreading among the British troops. Sept. 8. Ifews is to hand that a detachment of English cavalry left to-day for Ka>>sassoun, and advanced to within a mile of Tel El Ivebir. The enemy's position was ruconnoitered and sketched, and the cavalry then retired, no opposition being met with. Latest news from head quarters is to the effect that the concentration of troops under Sir Garnet Wolseley, is to be completed at Kassassoun by Monday next, and that an advance in for«e against the enemy will then be made. Sept. 9. At an early hour this morning Arabi menaced the British position at Kassassoun with a strong fore, and opened fire with his field pieces upon the entrenchments, and a heavy cannonade was maintained on both sides for some time. Subsequently the enemy mde an attack on both flanks of the British position at Kassassoun simultaneously, and sharp fighting took place. At noon the enemy suffered a severe repulse. The fighting was, however, continued. The main body of troops under Sir Garnet Wolseley is now at Mahuta, and is rapidly pushing to the front. An attempt was made last night by a party of Arabs to surprise the British garrison here, and obtain possession of the city. Nothing, however, came of the affair. London, Sept. 8, Lord Dufferin has deferred signing the convention with Turkey, as he takes objection to several phrases used by the Sultan in the preclamation declaring Arabi a rebel, Sept, 9. Five thousand of the Egyptian troops are advancing from Tel El Kebir, Sir Garnet Wolseley has 17,000 men advancing to the front. Arabi's front extends from Atkeron Besert to the south of the Canal, and his defensive works are formidable.
