RESIGNATION OF THE MINISTRY

[Per (Press Association.]

"Wellington, April 10

The Miiifitry have forwarded their resignations to His Excellency and they have been accepted. As yet it is not known whom the Governor will call upon to form a new Ministry. The members of the present Ministry will hold office until their succe sors are apdointed. Nothing further is likely to transpire until tha arrival of His Excelin Wellington.

Later accounts say that Sir George ■ Grey has been sent for by 'the Governor, and that that gentleman is on his way to Wellington in excellent health ■and spirits. The Press says that:the Hall Ministry made certain recommendations to the Governor when they resigned, but other papers say that they did not. It is more likely that they did not, as if they had they would not have advised him to send for Sir George •Grey, and the Governor would not have sent for him. There is a rumor in Wellington that the Premier is not so ill as.reported, and that ihis illness is • only a p*-.text for resignation in order to re-construct the Ministry. There ■ seems not a particle of truth in this. It !iß:also rumored that the cause of the :resignation is a dispute batween Mes.-r* \Whitaker and Bryce on account of the iremoval of the .Native Office from .Auckland.
