An attempt was male to blow up the 'house of Mr Lucas, : gent for Lord (Clanbrook, at Ball nnsloe, County Galway, by throwing a shell containing .dynamite .into .the building. Mr •Lucas', house and that of .his ; neighbor, vwere both damaged ! by 'the explosion, ibut the occupants escaped without i injury.
A. landlord named Herbert in County Kerry, south-west of Ireland, has been imurdeied. The United States Senate have passed a motion ordering inquiries to be made into the condition of American subjects imprisoned as " suspects" in Ireland.
The election of Michael Davitt for Meath unopposed, is regarded as evidence of the character of Irish disaffec tion. The election of course will be quashed, as Davitt, being a convicted dfelon, is ineligible, but in that case the election of Patrick Egan, Treasurer of rthe League, is considered certain.
