The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports as follows for the month ended 23rd March 1882 : W OOL. The demand whicli continued increasingly brisk np to the 14th instant, appears to have reached its strongest point at that date ; prices are still maintained and altogether the series has proved as successful as was anticipated. Dunedin. —Competition has shown a decided improvement, though somewhat irregular in the earlier sales of the month Cross-bred at auction, from 7d to 12d for Greasy, from ll£d to Is Pd, for scoured, merino greasy, 7fd to 10|d ; washed, to 12|d ; scoured, 12d to la 6Jd ; greasy merino at I2j|d per lb. Christchurch. —Early in the month we placed privately upwards of 300 balsa at up to lOjd per lb for greasy merino, and obtained lOd for a line of lambs wool, which must be quoted firmer and in stronger demand. Wellington. —For bright cross-bred lambs up to B|d was obtained while one clip of 100 bales of dingy, heavy crossbred brought 6|d to 6§d Odd lots of coarse wool made from 7d to 7§<! per lb.

Invercargill.— The market remains steady at fanner quotations.

Auckland. —Sales limited at last quotations, the season having virtually closed some time since.

Napier. —Only very small business has been done during the month at prices previously ruling. Timaru. -Since last report, local auction sales have been well attended, and previous prices fully maintained. Greasy merino, to 9£d ; cross-bred. 8d to Bfd; scoured merino. Is 3d to Is 6d, The bulk Of the station wool has now come forward, and at present the deliveries are very 7 email. SHEEPSKINS. Christchurch. —We have quitted over 3000 skins under the hammer, at prices sustaining our quotations-

Dunedin. Full wool led cross-bred have touched 6s 8d ; merino, 5s 7d ; other descriptions have realised relatively satisfactory rates.

Wellington - Supplies are still very limited, and parcels to hand are of a most inferior description—coarse and short woolled. These have been quitted at 4d to per lb ; merino may be quoted at from s|-d to 6|d per lb. Timaru. —Seveial large parcels changed hands locally, at satisfactory rates. De. mand good. We. quote good station skins, sorted merino 5s 6cl to 6s , cross-bred 3s 3d to 4s 9d ; butchers’ skins 2s 6d to 6s ; lambskins 2s to 2s 6d. TALLOW AND FAT. Advices from London are not so favorable, a slight relapse having occurred from the firmness of last month. Latest quotations by cable arc 44s for mutton and 39s for beef. Christchurch. tallow have been sold at 20s to 24s ; well rendered parcels 28s 6d, In fat prices have ranged from inferior quality to 2d for second quality, and 2fd for clean and well-saved descriptions. Dunedin. —The trade demand continues quiet, and a further decline for the month has to be reported of about 1s per cwt both on tallow and fat.

Wellington. —Mutton in fair shipping order is making £3O, and mixed parcels find ready sale at from £26 to £27 per ton.

Auckland. —Supplies are all absorbed by local boilers at 18s to 24s per cwt. Narier. —£29 10s has been paid for a jot of medium quality. Well rendered tallow is held for £32.
