THE ATTEMPT ON THE QUEEN'S LIFE.
Lonpon, March 6. Thanksgivings were offered up in all churches throughout the united Kingdom yesterday for the providential escape of the Queen from the attempt upon her life. Loyal addresses to Her Majesty on the occasion will be moved in both Houses of Parliament today. March 7. In both Houses of Parliament this evening, addresses to the Queen were passed, expressing gratification at Her Majesty's escape from the recent attempt on her life. Melbourne, March 6, The National Anthem was played in most of the city and suburban churches yesterday to commemorate the Queen's escape from assassination, Public meetings are being- organised in this city and other towns in the colony to mark the citizen's loyalty to the Queen and their pleasure at Her Majesty's deliverance, Christchuroh, March 6. The Governor in the course of some remarks prefacing a lecture on New Guinea at the Oddfellows Hall this evening, took occasion to mention that he had telegraphed to the Queen, in the name of the people of New Zealand congratulating her on her escape.
