GERALDINE COUNTY COUNCIL.

At the rneeting of the Geraldine County Council, the question of Slaughterhouse licenses came up for discussion. A petition signed by all the butchers was received) protesting against the proposed alteration in the slaughterhouse license fees, and urging upon the Council the de-

suability of continuing the services of an inspector of Slaughterhouse. Messrs Lee, Kid will, and Green wha waited upon, the Council as a deputation, urged that it was hard on butchers to pay £5 license for killing 11 sheep, and one beast, while the farmers were only charged 10s fid for killing 10 sheep and two beasts.
