According to official returns, there are 1050 tons, of printing paper alone annually imported into this Colony, at a cost of over £250,000, ami to this must he added other kinds of paper to more than double that amount. It is therefore evident that there is ample scope for the projected undertaking 8. It is contemplated importing the very best machinery procurable, the probable cost of which, includin'necessary buildings, will amoxint to £15,000. 9. The following local advantages have influenced the promoters in chocsing Temuka as the site of the project ed Mill, viz - (a.) Connection with the railway by siding, and close proximity to the Port cf Timaru. (b.) An unlimited supply of pure water, free from iron and other deleterious matter. (c.) Cheap and abundant, supply of raw material. 10.
