Affairs at Parihaka are still quiet. Rangi will be tried at New Plymouth under the West Coast Settlement Act, and as he is one of the principal chiefs he wil' be kept in custo ly for some time. Mr Stout has expressed his willingness to do so, but there is a doubt as to whether To Whiti or the other prisoners will accept any legal assistance. The trial of Hiroki for the murder of McLean is stpl proceeding, several Europeans and natives giving evidence agaipst him. He has been remanded till Monday next.
