The particulars o r the property are as folio ws : It is freehold, of 20 acres in extent, the property of Mr George Meredith. In the hind two shafts have been sunk. The main, or working shaft is Oft by off v. ide, imd is 22ft deep, from which coal has been raised from a seam 2ft thick. The shaft is timbered from tbe surfiuv. The other shaft referred to (half a chain from I lie main -haft) is 7ft by Ifl wide ami daft tie p, and is well timbered, and has been sunk through two seams of eoal of -'ft mid 4ft respectively oil to a 2ft bin seam. Fire clay is found in large quantities, and is pronounced by competent authority to be eminently adapted for pottery and sanitary pipes, gas retorts, llrc-biieks, &e. The eoal is easily obtained, and is of the finest quality for household and manufacturing purpose.-, and its superiority for the production of gas and for steam purposes has been proved by reliable tests.
