The Promoters having had th? very vainson,- properly (as described below) offered to :Vni by the Proprietor, and having made satisfactory arrangements for the pur-Gni-e or lease of the same, they ' have determined to place the property, and the advantages connected with it, before the Public, and to develop what, in their opinion must prove to he a most successful undertaking, and one that will prove of immense advantage to the District of South Canterbury. A small amount of capital will be required {« purchase the necessary machinery, and to (jut 'the mine in good working order, so that the Company will be able to pay dividends shortly after starting. In the land two shafts have been sunk. The main, or working shaft is Sftby sft wide, and is 32ft deep,' from which coal has been raised from a seam 2ft thick. The shaft is timbered from the surface.
