San Francisco : The dissatisfaction with the Irish Land League broke out in letters to the press protesting against the manifesto of the League, and it was therein proclaimed ns illegal and criminal, and all its meetings will be dispersed be the police. When the news of this proclamation readied the Leaguers’ office, a hurried council was held, books and papers were destroyed, lights were ext inguished and doors locked, nnd the executive officials decamped fearing arrest, leaving only a stock of notepaper nr.d envelopes. Captain Boycott, when in Westport, was protected by the police. He was followed, and the crowd afterwards burned
his effigy. Father Conway Clanbur has been sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labor at the suit of Lord Ardingourfor assaulting a bailiff. He will
appeal. The Land Leaguers Dillon,Egan, Thos. P. Connor, and Redpath, have arrived at New York.
An Irish farmer named Leath, living near Rathbone, on Lord Kennard’s property was killed by a body of armed men on October 5 for paying his rent. The same day a man for carting Boycotted oats in a parish town in the County of Tipperary’ was mortally’ wounded. Owing to the action of the locabLand League, Captain Hurteps, master of the Kilkenny hounds, discharged his servants and left for England. This entails a Ios 8 to the town of 500,000 dollars ; Lord Waterford also intends to close up hia establishment.
Lord Ross’s tenants are in revolt, not one out of 500 or more on his property, appearing on the 9tli to pay rent. A number of farmhouses ho lias on bis land, have been burned.
