FATAL ACCIDENT.
A sad accident occurred on Wednesday last to a child about eight years of age named William Demuth. It appears that during the afternoon of that day he was observed sitting on the railway bridge over the Terauka river, engaged iu dangling a willow wand about sft in length in the river, and which was secured to one of tho sleepers by a flax line. As this was the last seen of the unfortunate child alive it is surmised that he must have overbalanced himself and fallen into the stream below. Information was given to the police, who dragged the river for several hours, when the body was found about seven o’clock in a deep waterbole. An inquest will be held to-day at ten o’clock before J. lySWood, Esq., Coroner for tho district. v -
