The annual meeting of theTemukaand Geraldine Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at the Star Hotel Temnka on Wednesday evening, the 25th, May, 1881. PRESENT. There was only a moderate number of members present. . Mr R. A. Barkerpresided. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting .were read and confirmed. REPORT. The following report was submitted ta the meeting ; “ Your Committee have very little to. report at this the annual meeting of the. Association. You are aware that in con-*, sequence of the comparatively small sup-* port given to the Society by tne farmers, etc., generally in this district daring the last two. or three years, the holding of shows have been discontinued for the present, although it is well agreed by the present supporters of the Association that they will again inaugurate- the holding-of shows should the residents in the district show a disposition favorable to thatend. The last Ram Fair held on the ground was a moderate success, and your retiringCommittee would recommend that the same be continued, as no doubt, by perseverance it will eventually be a success. “ Your Committee, at a meeting held on the 17th December last, unanimously r esolved to have the Association registeied as a corporate body under “ The AgricuK. Lira! and Pastoral Act of 1877,” and

preliminary steps have been taken for that purpose. It now only remains necessaryto obtain the m cessary number of x signatures to the petition, when it will he forwarded to Wellington for the purpose of having the sanction of the Governor in Council. “ The only other matter your Com' mittee consider necessary to be placed before you is the steps they would recommend to be carried into effect in the matter of arranging with a company that it is proposed to start for holding regular periodical fairs on the Society's grounds. In consideration of the great public benefit to be derived by the whole of this large district having a central place for the sale and purchase of stock, your Committee would strongly recommend that arrangements be made for this purpose with the proposed Company as soon as possible. “ A statement of accounts will be read to you by the Treasurer, which, on the

whole, shows that, considering the difficulties we have had to contend with, the Association is in a moderately good position. BALANCE SHEET, The balance sheet for the past year having been read,fMr Gray moved, Mr J. Patterson seconded—• ‘ That the report and balance sheet as read be confirmed ’’ Carried unanimously. ELECTION OF OFFICEES AND COMMITTEE. On the motion of Mr Wilson seconded by Mr Paterson. Mr R. A. Barker was re-elected President, and Mr Quinn vicePresident.
