MILFORD SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of this Committee was held on Monday last. PRESENT. Present—Messrs Cox (Chairmau), Colville, Woodhead, Woodley, and Parker. COBBESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read aud considered : From the Board »f Education intimating that salaries for the month of February, £l3 18s 4d, had been paid into the Bnnk to the credit of the School Committee. From the same, acknow'edging receipt of a resolution by the Committee recording their votes in favor of the election to the Education Board of Messrs Barclay, Howell, and Acton. From the same ; a circular enclosing forms in duplicate of receipts and. expenditure by the local Committee, to be filled up and returned to the Board r»lso, intimating that owing to the severe illness of the Inspector, Mr Hammond, the reports of school examinations, now due, would not necessarily be forwarded to the Committee until his recovery. From Mr Mossman, on behalf of certain residentsin the district in respect to establishing a Club for the suppression of destructive small birds, and requesting the Chairman to call a meeting at an early date, to be held at the schoolhouse, to consider the question. It was resolved—" That the required permission to hold such a meeting in the 'schoolhouse be granted." MISCELLANEOUS. Resolved—** That the Rev. Mr Harper's application for the use of the schoolroom for a public meeting and entertainment to be held on the 15th instant be granted." Resolvet?—" That the Chairman should forthwith report to the Board that the present schoolroom in use is altogether too small for the accommodation of the children attending school, and to request that an additional room for the use of the junior classes bo erected." The meeting then terminated.
