MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 17th instant. PRESENT. The Honorable J. Barton, A Acland, (Chairman), Messrs J. Wilson, J. Heney, and C. G. Tripp. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. tenders. The following tenders for No. 39 contract, forming bridle track to Forest creek were consideied ;—John Casey, £7B; C. O’Connor. £77 15s 6d ; Thomas Corkerey, £75 10s ; Thomas Grindell and William Fly, £65 ; Alexander O’Neil, £55; Frank Mulley, £55 ; James Proudfoot, £49 10s; Edward Johns, £45, (accepted), CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and considered. From Mr J. H. R. King in reference to the plans of the new roads on Raincliff.

From Mr L. Harper stating that he bad authorised the manager of the Eaincliff property to give consent to the proposed new road through section 19994 to give access to section 27831. The matter was ordered to stand over for further consideration.

From C. 6. Tripp, Esq., Chairman of the Geraldine County Council, respecting making a contribution of £SOO towards the proposed bridge over the Opihi river.

Resolved requested to bring the matter before the annual meeting of the ratepayers.

From the manager Union Bank of Australia, Timaru, in reference to renewal of fixed deposits.

From J. L. Wilson in reference to his contract for breaking metal, and asking the Board to consider the matter of payment for repairs to the stone crusher. Tli e clerk was directed to reply and request Mr Wilson to furnish a detailed account of expenses he has been put to for repairs to the machine, and cost of models for casting, when the Board will consider the matter, ;

From the Colonial Secretary’s Office with reference to reserves 2163 and 2167 being vested in the Board, and stating that the matter lias been referred to the Crown Lands Department. Resolved —“That the annual meeting of Ratepayers be held on Tuesday, the 4th January, at 12 noon ; and that a poll, if necessary, be taken on the Friday following. The clerk was directed to write to the Minister for Public Works referring to his letter of the 24th October, and asking if any decision has been arrived at in respect to repairing the Rangitata traffic bridge, as the Board is under the impression that £4OOO was voted for that purpose. To write to the Chief Surveyor requesting that the new map of the district be forwarded before the annual meeting. The Overseer was directed to inspect the line of road in the Orari gorge through sections 18836, and report at the next meeting. Accounts to the amount of £1624 18s were passed for payment.
