MILFORD SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the above Committee was held on the 13th Dec, PRESENT. Messrs Cox (Chairman), May, Woodhead, and Woodley. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. 1, From the Head Master, Mr Mossman, pointing out certain requirements for the junior classes ; also asking a supply of stationery. Submitting also, at the request of the Chairman, a list of days usually observed as public holidays. Stating also that he had received the sum of £4 12s, proceeds of an entertainment given in the school-room, in aid of the school prize, 2. From the Board, 12th November, intimating that in accordance with the recommendation of the Committee they had appointed Mrs Mossman sewing mistress, and Miss Burton as first year pupil teacher, both appointments to date from Nov Ist, 1880. 3, From the Board, 22nd Nov., intimating that the sura of £l2 Iss 8d had been placed to the credit of the Committee for payment of teachers’ salaries for the month ending 30th November, 1880. 4. Also £1 for salary of sewing mistress for current month.

Accounts ordered to be paid :—Templeton and Co., £1 4s 3d; -i. Brown, 12s. MISCEtLANBOUS. ■ Resolved—“ That the Board be applied to for the use of the apparatus required by the Head Teacher for the use of the juvenile classes ” Resolved—“ That the balance of receipts from the -entertainment, after expenses incurred in connection therewith, be expended in school prizes to be selected by the Chairman and the Head Teacher. Also tha't the amount be supplemented by a contribution of £2 out of “ Incidentals.” Resolved—“ That the School be closed for a fortnight from the 24th December for Christmas holidays, on which day the prizes will be distributed.” Agreed that the Rev. Mr Gordon bp granted the use of the school room for

Tuesday, the 14th inst, for the purpose of holding a lecture. The Committee desire to express their opinion that in the distribution of prizes the junior classes should be considered as well as the successful ones in the upper classes
