LATE CAPE NEWS.

Cape Town, Nov. 8. The rebellion in Basutoland still continues. Our forces have not secured a victory as yet, although several engagements have been fought. 3680 burghers have been called out, to proceed o the front this week, and 200 volunteer Engineers and 60 Cape Artillery start for the seat of war, taking with them four fieldguns. There is great danger of a general native rising. A ( company of volunteers, composed almost entirely of Australian goldseekers, has been raised for active service, Qn the 20th nit, Maseru was attacked by the rebels a second lime. They were repulsed with considerable loss after a sharp fight, opr loss being one officer and four men killed and siV wounded. The rebels loss was 40 killed, The first engagement with the rebel Tambookies 1

took place near Derdrucht on the 4th inst. an cl resulted in the defeat of the/rebels without loss on our side. At Derdrucht every man has been enrolled for the defence of the place. From the Diamond fields and the Transvaal over 400 volunteers are on route to the seat of war, and in a few days fully 5000 colonials will be in the field. Owing to the heavy gales along the coast three vessels have been totally wrecked, one at Port Elizabeth, one at East London, and the third at Mussel Bay.
