The Legislative Assembly last night passed a resolution appointing Mr King, at present the Queensland Commissioner for the Melbourne Exhibition, a member of the Royal Commission to enquire into the purchases of steel rails in England, where he will proceed and act in conjunction with a colleague to be appointed by the Secretary of state for the Colonies. In the libel action Mr Grealey Lukin editor of the Brisbane Courier, v. the proprietors of The Australian, a local religious organ, a verd>ct has been re-... turned for the plaintiff, with damages LBOO. The appropriation Act for L 760,000 has been passed by the Legislative Assembly. The Premier stated that the b dance of the loan would be floated during the recess. Sydney, Nov. 17. The Buiaindi Bank robbers have been sentenced to twelve years imprisonment. Sailed—Union Company’s steamer Hero, for Auckland.
