District Court Jud.je Meyimtt, whose conduct has recently formed the suhj ct at a Commission of Enquiry, has been suspended bv Government on the following grounds : Habitual discourtesy to legal practitioners, interference with juries, and aiso with suborning the interests of justice to his personal convenience. Brisbane, Nov. G. In the Legislative; Council last night a clause of the Railway Companies Bill which would have restricted the employment of Chinese, was rejected. Melbourne, Nov. G. A meeting of six thousand persons last night adopted a petition to the Governor for the reprieve of Ned Kelly. Mr Gaunson was the promoter of the agi aiion, and he will present the petition to-day. Several New Zealand residents nowin Melbourne intend holding a banquet an early date. Later. Mr Gaunson presented the petition for the reprieve of Ned Kelly to His Excellency the Governor to-day. The prop sed .. procession to Government House was abandoned. Numerous other petitions are being signed to the Executive Council for the reprieve of Kelly.
