Melbourne, Oct. 20. - Mata’s price for the Cup is now 100 to 6 . Subscriptions for the half million Tresury bonds amount to L 1,250,000, Messrs Melhado and Curtis, on behalf of the Bank of New South Wales, get almost the entire amout at LlOl 10s 2d. Mr Murray Smith intends in the Assemble}’ to challenge the action of Government in regard to the reinstatement of certain dismissed officials. Oct. 21, Arrived—P. and O. Company’s steamship Malwa, with inward Suez maii, dated Loudon, loth SepL y Mata is now being backed at lo to 1 for the Cup, having had a splendid gallop to-day. “ Augur,” in his sporting notes, has selected Progress and Mata for the Cup.
