TEMUKA LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH.

A meeting of the above Beard was held on Tuesday last, the sth inst., all the members being present except Mr Barker. The following report from the Inspector of Nuisances was read |-*- “ Sir, —I have the honor to draw the attention of the Board to the fact that Davis, the scavenger, buried during the past month the contents of seveial closeis in the gardens of Messrs Eliot and Morris, at Tctmika, contrary to a resolution of the Board re such practices. The nuisance has since been removed by my instructions. A nuisance, similar to the above, exists in a paddock near the brewery. The scavenger has neglected to remove the same, although I gave notice to him three weeks ago. A quantity of stagnant and puirid matter lies on the north side of the Bank of New Zealand premises, Mr M‘Kay, the manager, promised to rectify the nuisance last week, but has not as yet done so, The Temuka Hitel is still defective in drainage provisions, the construction of which is highly necessary to prevent a nuisance arising. Bolton, Inspei tor Nuisances.” Resolved—‘'That, should any cases of the kind complained of occur again, viz., burying closet matter in ground near dwellings, the Inspector endeavor to find out the offending parries and take action against them.” Resolved—“ That the clerk write the manager of the Bank and draw his attention to the matter complained of, and that Mr Ollivier’s attention be drawn to the complaint made about his premises.” The Board then adjourned.
