TEMUKA ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting was held on Tuesday, the 6lh inst. PRESENT. Messrs J. Talbot (Chairman), Quiniij Paterson, and Ensnr. deputations. Mr S. Bu»tows attended to ask if the Board would grant, some drain pipes for the purpose of carrying the water through Mr Heap’s section in continuation of road drain. Resolved that the Board cannot accede to Mr Burrows’ request. Mr Badliam requested the Board to make a certain road near th i Rangitata passable; also asking to have something done to a side dr..in in Penny’s road. The Surveyor whs instructed to meet Mr B clliam, and inspect the places with him, and report on the matter. Mr Pearce applied fora foot bridge over each of the creeks on Gilbraiih’s load, Wailuhi, and also some repairs to Evan
cutting. Granted. Mr 1). S aton app'ied for some repairs to the road leading from section 10506 to the river terrace. Surveyor was ordered to report on the matter.
Mr Rees Thomas applied to have something' done to the cutting near the railway bridge at Neal’s old place. Resolved that some improvement be made to the cutting tcinpor ri y, and lire surveyor to report on the matter by next Board day.
Mr Mackay, manoger Bank of New Zealand, attended on the Board with reference to a deposit for £2OOO which fe.l due on the 18th September. Resolved that the £2XIO be re-deposited fur 12 muni hs.
Resolved that the Cleik write Mr Dickenson a copy of the resolution passed last Board day with reference to the Mill creek, and request a reply to the same. Mr Quinn moved, and Mr E.lsor seconded, and it was carried—“ Tin-tall outstanding rales be sued for after fourteen days’ notice, and that an advertisement to t is effect be published in the local papers, SEAL OF BOARD. Resolved that the impressed seal produced to the Board, bearing the words “Temuka Road Board Corporation ” be the official seal of tlie Board. Resolved that the clerk advertise for tenders for tlie valuation of the disiriet, the same to be in by the 19th inst., when a sped d meeting is to be held to consider the matter, CORRESPONDENCE. From the rate collector re rates. From Mr R. A. Barker requesting leave of absence in consequence of ill-health. From iho Secretary to the Treasury advis ng remittance balance of Land Fund £l3B 16s. Fr-nu Public Works Office, Wellington, drawing the attention of the Board to the sections Nos 2,4, 5 and 6of the Public Wonts Act, 1880. From the Survey Office, Timaru, asking to have exhibited, in a conspicuous place, a plan ami advertisement of the sale of the Waimaie Plains. The del it was instructed to attend to it. Fiom the Geraldine Road Board agreeing to It ke charge of the building of the bridge near Sharp’s. ' From Messrs Harper, Harper and Scott in re deviation of road at A.owheuua Station. The Board resolved that they would adhere to their former resolution in tlie matter, and the attention of Messrs Harper Harper and Scott be called to the Public Works Amendment A- t, 1880. From Mr Andrew Grant asking to have Messrs Empson and Shiel’s names bo substituted 011 the rate roll for his, for laud siiuate on the Rangitala Island. Granted, piovided Messrs Empson and Shiel do not object. Tlie Surveyor’s report having boon road, the fol owing instiu..lions wore given : A crossing to bo m ulc at the Waihi river, leading to Maopherson’s place as suggested Dim! 1 to bo enlarged from Orari crossing to Mr Gammaoks . Thu track as suggested to bo made a t Spur Hut Uo.ui. Drain'mi North side of Marshall's road JioA)b widened. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £279 3s7d were passed for payment.
TENDERS, The following tenders were accepted No 56—-Formation Kakahu Road, Gerald Casey, £27 15s. No 57—Formation Denmark and Hornhrook sireets, 0. Flynn, 9s 61 chain, or £lB 5- 9d. No 58 Formation and Shingling T.dbot’s road, James Wilkinson for ■nation. £5; shingling la 8d per yard. No 59—Drains Ohapi Road, T. Small at 4s 8d per chidn. The Board then adjourned.
