Melbourne Aug. 25
It is announced that the Duke of Manchester will visit New Zealand during his stay in the colonies. It is proposed to hold a race meeting in Sir Hercules Robinson’s honor, when ho visits Melbourne on his way to England. The proposal meets gith Genaral approval in sporting circles. Aug, 26. Sir Hercules Robinson has accepted the invitation to the race meeting to be held here on September 16th. There will bo a largo amount of added money to the chief event, Sydney, Aug. 25. The race for the Hawks bury Guineas resulted as follows :—Geraldine, 1 ; Sapphire, 2 } Kamillaroi, 3. Time, 1 minute 45 8. lOsec. Geraldine won by a length.
