KAKAHU PUBLIC SCHOOL.

The committee of this school held their monthly meeting on Monday last, the 2nd inst. Present—All the members. The nv'nutes of the previous meeting were read and conmned.

The following letters were read and considered :

(1) Circular containing general instructions to teachers in reference to compiling the quarterly returns. (2) Stating that if the Committee prohibit the attendance of children under school age (five years) the effect will probably tend to reduce their income. To this a copy of a circular was appended, showing that the intentions of the Govern ment were not opposed to bona fide scholars attending public schools outside the limits of sch»ol age.

(3) Informing the Committee that their application for school furniture had been acceded to.

(4) Em-losing quarterly attendance return to 30th June, which shows the working average to be 45.

(5) Forwarding vouchers for. salary to 30tb July ; also for incidental expenses to 30th September;

In reference to the Board's letter fe prohibition of children under school age Mr Goodsell moved, Mr Patrick seconded and it was carried, "That this meeting sae no ieason for departing from the resolution passed at the last meeting." Resolved—" That the trimming of the fences around the school grounds, and certain other works be let by tender ; and that the Chairman accept the same;" Accounts, including salaries, amounting Id L2O Is 8d were passed and paid. The meeting then adjourned.
