It is expected that an ultimatum will be sent to the Porte summoning it to satisfy the claims of Montenegro. A levy of all men capable of bearing arms is being nuue in Montenegro with a view to enlorca its claims.

In the House of Commons to-day the Marquis of Hartington, Secretary of State for India, announced, that he had received telegraphic information from India that a terrible disaster had befallen General Burrows' brigade in Candahar. According to the telegram the British torce had been completely annihilated by the native tribes unler Ayoub Khan. No further details have yet been received.
Trickett, who airivrd in England on Monday last by tho s.s». Orient, is going shortly"to Scotland. He will commence his training in September. July 27.
In the House of Commons to-night the Bill for compensating Irish ten nts was read a third time on a division, by a majority of 66- The Irish members voted with the majority. It is stated that the Queen has sent a private note to ihe Sultan of Turkey, urging him to yield to the decision of the Ber'in Conference as repuired by the Great Powers. Calcutta, July 29. Further details have come to hand regarding the disaster at Candahar. General'Burrows' Brigade, numSering 300, were attacked by Ayoub Khan's forces, 12,000 strong. They lost two guus, and, being outnumbered, fled. They were pursued for three miles,_ and became straggling, arriving in driblets, at Candahar, where General Garimose (?),with a force of 2,00© men, took refuge in tho citadel. . The wires were cut by° the enemy, whinh prevented their sending for reinforcements. Generals Phayre and Sandeman ar*> now concentrating their forces on the Bolon Pass. St. Petkrsborg, July 28.
The last Russian war vessel ordered to the pacific, in view of possible hostilities wit China left Cronstadt to-day. July 28.
News has b en received from istanjthat Alviul Ralimhn h"s left Chare ikar for the purpose of having another interview with the British General at Niruna (sic) on Saturday, when the qcestion of the Ameership is to be again discussed.
