MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the abovo Board was held in the Road Board’s office Peel Forest, on Friday, the 16th inst.
Members present—Messrs C. Or. Tripp, J, Henry, R. Mack ay, and J. Wilson.
In the absence of the chairman, C. Q-. Tripp Esq, was elected chairman pro tem The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
The following tenders were considered : No 17 contract. Shingling to tiro Homo Bush. Rainolilf. The clerk was directed to furnish the equired information

From the Geraldine County Council, requesting to be furnished with the ratable value of the district for the year 1878, and if any, claim lias been made on the Board by the Colonial Treasurer for hospitals and charitable aid in the same year, and what amount The clerk was directed to furnish the information aeked for
From Mr J H Baine, requesting the Board to form a portion of the road through section 20911, and part of the road through section 20937 : also to shingle part of the road leading up the South branch of the Opulia river The overseer was instructed to report on the same at the next meeting From the same, witli reference to planting reserve 1859 at Sherwood Downs, and offering to see the work ea ri dout It was resolved that tenders be called for fencing and ploughing the reserve, and that the planting be deferred ti.l next season, and to thank Mr Riviue for his offer
From Mr J. Morris, with reference to the new map of the district From Mr James Watkins calling the attention of the Board to some rollen planks in the'P angilata traffic bridge- The clerk was directed to refer Mr Watkins to the Ashburton County Council From the same re the road leading down the Eangitata river bed
The overseer was instructed to have the thistles and tussocks cleared off, and tire cul* verts cleared out < Thomas Blair had an interview with the Board, requesting permission to transfer hi* contract of forming over the Oran Dowus j and for an extension of time to complete hi 9 work. The application for a transfer of the contract was refused, but one month’s exten* sion of time to complete the work was granted M r Eugene Lorgelly had an invomew with the Board asking to have the cutting near his place lengthened and improved I was resolved to call tenders for tho work The »lerk was directed to write to the Geraldine Road Board asking if they would consent to he Mount Peel Board calling tenders for orming and shingling a short length of the boundary road from tho top of the terrace to its junction with tho main road To apply for a gravel reserve at the corno of section 31990. and to ha've a line of road reserved to it It was resolved to invite tenders for the following works: through Blair’s land; (2) improving Eugene 8 cutting : (3) improving and metalling th in road in Peel Forest; (4) metalling th Kakahu and Burkes Pass road Haincliff; (5 orming between the Cattle Yalley and the middle yalley Raincliff; (6) ploughing bar rowing and sowing the reserve at the Roa f | Board Office ; (7) ploughing and sowing 5q acres reserve near Scotsburn (8) ploughing and sowing reserve at Sherwood Downs ; (9) eneing reserve at Sherwood Downs
Accounts to the amount of L 5961 3d wer e fpassed for payment. Board then adjourned
