NORTH ORARI SCHOOL.
A meeting of the Commissioners for the above school was held last Monday. Present; —Messrs Taylor, A. McLean, and GK Canavan. Correspondence from the Board of Education was read, notifying their appointment; also re grant for planting purposes, and winter holidays. Mr McLean proposed, and Mr GK Canavan seconded—That Mr D. Taylor be re-elected Chairman A discussion then arose as to whether th e Chairman should have a costing vote ; there being only three Commissioners, a casting yote could always bring things to a tie, it was decided that the Chairman should have only one vote,. Clause 68 of the Act was then read relating to Commissioners Proposed by Mr McLean, and seconded by Mr Canavan —That the Board’s Inspector be requested to inspect the school, for the purpose of classifyin the children Mr McLean proposed, and Mr GK Canavan seconded —That the Midwinter holidays commence on the 18th of June, and end on the 10th of July It was proposed by Mr McLean, and sc. conded by Mr Ct navan—That the trees round the master’s house be fenced off, and the front re-planted with gums aud wattles Proposed by Mr McLean, and seconded by Mr Canavan —That the Commissioners meet on the second Tuesday in each month. The sum of 111 13s 4d —being master’s salary for May— was passed for payment. The meeting was then adjourned till the second Tuesday in June.
