MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
Tho ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held in tho Road Board office, Peel forest, on Friday, 21st inst. MEMBERS PRESENT. The Hon. J. B. Aclaud (Chairman). Messrs Wilson and tiuiey. minutes. The nJnutes of the last meeting were read and e iidinned . TENDERS.
The folk.wing tenders were opened;
No. 12 contract, carting boulders— The mas Blair, LBO ; A. W. Macdonald L 69 10s ; J. Proud foot, L 5 • ; do..n Sngrue, LSO ; W. Oai>y, L4U if)-; ; Deids Macarthy, L3‘J Its; Uicluod O'Neil, L 33 6s 8d ; Charles Terry, L 33 6s 8d (accepted). CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read anil considered : From the Agent of the Liverpool, London, and Globe In urance Company, re insurance of the public pound. The terms of the proposal were accepted . From the Ashburton county council stating that the balance of the grant to Mr Watkins for the temperary platform at the Rangatati Bridge had been paid by the Council.
Resolved—“ That tho balance of the Board’s grant for the same purpose be paid to Mr Watkins.” From Messrs Duncan ami Sons, enclosing price list of forest trees. From Mr J. Meikle, requesting the Board to improve and shingle the road over Tripps Pass.
Resolved—“ That ton lers he invited for the work.”
.From Mr C. G. Tripp, requesting leave of absence from the next meeting of the Board, as he would be unable to attend owing to ill health. The request was granted. From Mr T. Blair, the Board to allow an extra price for No. 3 contract, as t e work had turned out worse than he expected. Reso'ved—“ That in justice to other tenders, the application cannot be granted.”
From Mr P. B. Boulton, stating that there is no register of Bran Is in existent-. From Mr Michael O’Bri n. < ff ring to shinglethe remain u r portion of the Cattle Valley road at Is FJ p<r y aid. Resolved that she offer be acre >■••1 for shingling the short length of road at the upper end of the valley.” From Mr Benjamin Whetton, king pel mi sion to remove timber from the road reserve in Pit! forest. The request wo gouued. From Mr James Macdonald, av.k'ng permission to put a gate across the road near Ra nciilf.—Granted. From the Begistrar-Geucral, forwarding form of re urns to be filled up. The Clark was directed to furnish the required information. From the Under-S cretary for Public Works, f<a warding forms of si tistics to be filled up.
1 he Chairman stated that one of the forms had been tided up and returned to the public Works office.
Resolved—“ That tenders her invited for the following wor' s : —(1) Widening and shingling the road from Horsfall’s to Scotsburn ; (2) metalling the road over Tripp’s Pass ; (3) shingling in the Opihi river bed, Raincliff.” ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of L 1757 2s were passed for payment. ADJOURNMENT. The meeting then adjourned.
