SPORTING.
AUCKLAND AUTUMN MEETING Auckland, April 22. The Autumn Meeting took place to-day at Ellerslie. There was a very moderate attendance of spectators, but a large number of bookmakers and games of chance from all parts of the colony. One totalisator was working at the races. Mr Franck in high dudgeon, refused the Club's terms and placed his tent adjacent to the racecourse in the Ellerslie gardens. The'totalisators were poorly patronised, and but little betting was done. Two accidents occurred in the Hurdle nice. Tom Fiun brohu his eg, and had to bo shot, and in the Autumn Handicap, Malvern's rider had his leg broken through being carrieo against a post, and wa.i otherwise injured. The following are tho ovouta : Tradesmen's Handicap, of 50 sovs ; distance, 1 mile. Mr Smith's Maid of Honor ... 1 Mr Horse fail's Ratcatcher ... 3 Mr Keith's Soulcar ~, 3 Grand Daehcss, Vampire, Piscafcorious Loch Lomond, Confident, (J-olden Crown, and flauntoror also started. Klleksi.tr Pirate, of 100 fore : second horso to receive 20 mots out of fcho Stakes. Mr Prince's Hilarious ... 1 Mr Leonard's Kenilworth ... 2 Mr Smith's Tim Whiffler ... 3 Piinco Cluirlio, Wool-broker, and Moonshine also ran. Time —loan 12seo.
