Before F. Guinness, Esq., R.M. Wednesday, 17xh Mar., 1880. The Court sat at 10 a. ra. Patrick Hanley was charged with using threatening and insulting language. Sorgt Carlyon conducted the prosecution The information was dismissed on a technical point raised by Mr Knubloy,who appeared for the accused Fenton v Lines —Re-hearing of a case heard on a previous Court day, when defendant was fined 10a The evidence taken was similar to that heard at tho first hearing, tho only material difference being that at first Innes said lie was not sure whether he laid hold of Fenton by the collar, but he was sure now that he did not His Worship said it was a question of which statement should be taken lie would disbelieve the one just made, and take that made by him when tho incident was fresh in his mind His Worship said ho saw no reason to alter his decision, therefore tho conviction would be sustained with costs Innes y Fenton —A charge of embezzlement under tho Servants Act, 1874, in which Fen ton was accused of embezzling monies from Innes, whilst ho (Fenton) was a servant in the accuser’s employ After voluminous evidence had been taken, His Worship said there was nothing to send before a jury, so he would take upon himself the responsibility of dismissing the charge [Lbft Sitting]
