The most valuabl . reine lies are sulpburet of catcimn (dim and su.phur lotion), made up by add ing the unslaked lime to a gallon o water, and then boding with the solu tlon about three pounds-- of flour of sulphur and common paraffin oil. Of these I much pnfer the latter because it is so‘ thoroughly penetrating. As mange is caused by the presence of minute parasites working under the skin, it is necessary to use somethin that shall be penetrating and destrutiv • to the parasite, and at the same tira harmless to the dog himself; altboug paraffin causes the dog to worry himjj se'f for a few minutes after the applies tion, the irritation soon goes off. Th greatest, care is necessary in disinfectinge the kennel and all places where tV dog has been in the habit of lying o»* rubbing himself. A weak solution of carbahc acid may be used about the place, but do not use too much of it. See that the dog has plenty of clean and fresh litter—wheat straw or deal shavings.
