AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Sydney, Feb. 24 Serious floods have occurred in ibe Richmond River. The streets of Casino are completely submerged, and boats are engaged in saving the lives and property of the inhabitants. In the case of McKenzie v. the Union Insurance Company, for wrongful dismissal, a verdict was given for the plaintiff for L 230. Newcastle, Feb. 24 It is reported the colliery proprietors now working under the vend scheme intend to reduce the wages of the men and the prices of coal by 25 per cent, in order (hat they may be in a position to compete with (he collieries not bound by the vend rules.
