Df’stkuction of Game —Our attention ha? been called several times to the destruction of native game that has been going on of late in the outskirts of Tetnuka. No later thou yesterday a grey duck was picked up just outside the township, with its whig broken, which had evidently been shot- The matter has been placed in the hands of the police, and we hope they will be successful in bringing some of these word cl -he sportsmen to justice A Robbery.—Tiie Alexandra correspondent of the Tur.peka Times writes . “ A man named John Newton, a wellknown miner at Ilia Nevis, reported to the police that on Tuesday last, at 12 p m., while riding across Bald Hill Flat on his way to ihe Nevis, he was stuck up by two men, who pulled him off Ids horse and robbed hira of a pocket-book containing £3O in. notea. We have since learnt by telegraph (adds the Tuapeka Times) that two men have been apprehended at C yde and remanded. Their names are Murphy and Featheratone. The former is said to belong to too Ilelly gang. The pocketbook and money have not been found.” A Bad Look Our.—We have been shown by Mr C. Constable, a resident in tho-south..part of the town, some potatoes badly affected with wliaf appears fd-'be'tlTe' d'sense that lias, from time to time, destroyed a largo portion of the crop in the home country. Mr Constable states that his neighbours’ potatoes are similarly affected, and suggests that growers should look to their crops, and if they are found affected by the blight, lose no true in digging them up—which has been proved to be the only way of arresting its ravages. — 'Weekly News. .
That Coumht Player. —There is a musician (says a Wellington paper).’ who resides nn the Tinakori road, Wellington who commences to “ tune up” on his cor. net every night exactly at 9'30, and keeps ou “ doing it” till nearly midnight. He generally winds up his variations by blowing out in melo-dramatic lime “ Let me linger by thy side.” The neighbors consider they have suffered the infliction long enough, and have hit upon a plan of blowing him up. He lad therefore better take warning and travel to another part of the town.
