MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
A meeting' of the above .Board was held ia the Road Board Odice, Peel Forest, on Wednesday, the 4ih mat. Members pcsont:—Messrs Tiipp, Mackay and Piei ey. The Chairman not being present, Mr Tripp was voted to the chair. Tiie minute vof the last meeting were road and confi aned. The lenders -or No 1 conlract were considered. when James Oregon’s lender of 9gd per cubic yard, for c rting boulders was accepted. COV-UKSPOUI) ENGE. From the Gt'raldine Conaiy C-m/icil stating that die management of the'poundat P e! Forest would be hot in tao hands of the Board From the same; requesting to be sunplied with a cony of the valuation list of the district for tho current year. From iho same, request!.ig information as to the rateable vahio of the district, tho amount of rates collected, and the '.mount received from the division of the County Fund. From Mr Ollivev, the Provincial District Auditor, requesting that boohs and accouuts be ready for audit on Jan. 29. F-'om the Cera Id i e Road Eoavd, consenting to shingle the road to tho Rang : - taia Railway S-a.ion, and stating that the work would be put in hand after harvest. Tho Clerk was directed to reply, thanking the Geraldine Road Board for their prompt, action in the matter. From Mr J. li. R. King, with reference to vhe plans of Iho nov, road on Ihihic'ifT. From Mr J. Anderson of Christchurch, informing the Beard that Ihe duplicate parts of the stone breaking machine were shipped on hoard tho Wahuato. The-Clerk was d‘rented to reply and request Mr Anderson to forward the same upon their arrival. From Mr J. Moms, Chmlchu ch, containing a.n offer for making up a new map of the district.
The offer was accepted. From tho Survey office, Chrstchnrch, that a new line of road would be laid ,ofF along the banks of the Orar River, ns requested by the Board. From Mr Thomas Blair, requesting the Board the road across the Chari Downs. Resoßed that tenders be invited for the work after harvest.
From Mr F. Newman, stating that ho was willing to take charge of iho pound" and act as pomuikeeper for six months, for the pound fees. Resolved that Mr Newman be appointed ..poundkoeper, and that.the Clerk have ti o appointment gazetted. From Mr L. P. Wilson, Ohristehmch, offering to break metal fr in boulder'stone for 3a Gd per cubic yard, lie to have the use of the Board’s stone crusher. The offer was accepted,-subject to certain conditions. Mr Eugene Lorgelly !uid an interview with the Board with reference to widening and improving the cutting in the terrace «t the west end of the cross load iu Peel Forest. ‘ The Overseer was directed to invite tender's for tho work, • and to write to'the chief surveyor, asking that when the adjoining land is surveyed a width of two chums of road reserve be laid up the terrace. The Overseer was directed to have the drain alongside the road near Peel Forest cleaned out. The OvorseerTeported that J. Wharton had thrown up his contract of forming near AUrndrle. Resolved, That in future any'contractor tin-owing up a coutrant'will be debarred from tendering for any work under the Board for twelve months. After passing accounts to the amount of L 983 lls 7d, the Board adjourned till the 20th inst.
