S. O. COURSING CLUB.
The usual monthly meeting of the South Canterbury Coursing Club was held in the Royal Hotel,Temulca, on Wednesday evening last. MEMBERS PRESENT. Dr Haves (Chairman), and Messrs Thom, son, Williamson, Paterson, and Bolton (Hon. Sec ) MINUTES. Tiie nrnntes of the previous meeting held in Tinnrn wore read an 1 confirmed. GENERAL BUSINESS. An account amounting to £1 Gi Id was
passed nr payment. The outward correspondence was then read an 1 approved of. In reply to the inward correspondence, it was resolved—“ That a share of the Club’s advertisements should be accorded to the Temuka Leader.” “ That the Secretary be instructed to write to the Acclimatii ation Society, drawing their attention to the fact that hares have increased to a great extent in South Canterbury, and requesting them to open thelseason for coursing a month earlier, viz., on April Ist, 1880.”
“ That the Secretary communicate with the North Otago Coursing Club, asking them at their earliest convenience to call a meeting of delegates from the various Clubs to consider a place of meeting for the Waterloo Cup and other important matters connected with coursing.”
NEW MEMBERS. The following gentlemen were then duly balloted for and elected members of the Club, viz. : —Messrs Sherwin, Freeman, McKerrovv, Swinton, Deßenzy, and Lawrie. Mr J. A. Gamack was then proposed as a member, in accordance with the rules. RESOI/TTIONS. Resolved that 100 post-cards be obtained, and the programme of the Puppy Stakes printed thereon, for circulation amongst the various coursing clubs ; that the next Committee meeting be held at the Grosvenor Hotel, Timaru, on Feb. 2nd, at 7.30 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT The meeting hen terminated with a vote of thanks o the chairman.
