surveyor’s report.

T have made specifications, and tenders hare been invited for the va’ious works to be done at last meeting of Board. There is a creek on Woodhead’s road, which runs let gdnvay with the road fur a distance of about. 6 chains, which requires filling. Thera is also an 18 inch pine culvert wanted to convey the w.'er out of 'he creek into the new drain. T would a«k the Board to authorise the work as it appears to me a very necessary one. The p-obable cost would be about T. 25 besides the pipes. I have examined the streets Mr 1 r>wn asked to have shingled the length in Davie street would be 10 chains and tj»e len dh from Davie street to opposite hi* ga'e 7 chains. Tf Board decides to shingle it I think 20 yds to the chain would he -u''e suffi den', as T do not f ink there can be in cb traffic on it for a considerable time, p ooah’e cost would be about Is 3d per yd., or £2l ss. T'-e ivafter was deferred.

Th ■ w iter has again scoured a large ho’e in the G-era I dino real, which I bad fenced in, as i' seems u eless to fi 1 it np. There are four watercourses leading from the river across the road, in which no water ways have be n provided. I think the best wav to remedy the evil wool be to put in a ford in each wvtar course and have them paved. The probable cost would be about £to.

Ag ’eed to tenders to be called for next Board dav.

He also reported that the ditch applied for bv Mr Roberts to be cleared on the Midclb Swamp R ad is not at present damagin - the road. It was in consequence de ile 1 to let the matter s«aud over for the present. The Board then adjourre.h
