WAITOHI PLAT SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The adjourned meeting of the above Committee was held on Monday last December 8, Messrs Talbot, D. Young,' Currie, Galley, and Liaton being present. A letter from the Board of E lucation was read, requesting the Committee to forward £l, being a half year's contribution (as per resolution of the Board) due by the Committee towards the master's salarv. It was resolved—" That the Board be informed the Coramitteo decidedly object to the prin dole laid down in thsir resolution, as applied to this school ; and that, if the district is legally entitled to contribute anything, the Board should levy a rate." The question of tho holidays was then dio'cussed, and it was decided that as abort a time as possible should be allowed at Christmas,with a viewof haviugthe general holidays during harvest, the .Christmas holidays to commence ou the 25th Dec, and school re-op«n on Monday, January sth.
The desirability of getting up an entertainment of some kiul for the children was considered, and it was decided to hold « meeting on Monday evening when it is hoped that all residents interested in tlie above object will attend, and assist in carrying out whatever may be deeded u;.'on. The meeting then terminated. . • ' ■
