LEVELS ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meet! eg of the above Board was held on Tuesday last.
MEMBERS PRESENT. Messrs Beswick (Chairman), Mclntosh, Kelland and Mee. PROPOSED TIM Aim COUNTY. It was resolved— (t That the Levels Road Board desires to record its regret ■that a requisition signed by 750 ratepayers, holding property o the annual amount of £70,000, and resulting i.i the prodama mation of the County of Timaru in the Gazette of 2nd October, 1879, has been negatived by a; vote of the House of Representative's.”. It wa , farther agreed, that the Board should resolve itself into a committee for the purpose of ; considering the necessary steps to be taken to carry out the wishes of the ratepayers in hadng -the proposed county of Timaru Proclaimed as provided for by the counties act of 1876. CORRESPONDENCE. ; ' The following correspondence was read: From the; Secretary to the Treasury, advising the sum of £436 Gs 9d had been forwarded to the District Fund account. :
From the Geraldine Road Board, requesting the Levels Board to co-operato in urging;the Government to repair the Rangitata Bridge. It was.; resolved—‘‘Thai the letter be acknowleged and the Board informed that the Levels Road Boaid must decline to have anything to do with the matter as it is not in the district.” ‘
From Mr M’Donald, .ths Board’s vainer, applying fur power to apply at the Land Office for information. R (solved—“ That a letter be written to Mr Fussd asking him to allow Mr M’Donald to take tracings.”

The Overseers report was read, and the works recommended therein were ordered to l)e carried out. • Protective works at Spillanes, on the Opihi river wore ordered to b-' taken in hand at onco, The Oha 1M tan was instructed to see M,r Frew with reference to his allowing a roadway through his paddock, in ease of another flood. . INTERVIEW. Mr Buckle interviewed the Board with reference to the formation of a road on the Seaeown estate.
