If Mr Macandrew gets into power, it is expected that the side who are now supporting the Govrnmcut will decide to follow him.
The report that Mr Wakefield was offered a seat is untrue. To-day’s New Zealander states that he is distrusted by both sides of the House, and is not respected by any member in it.
The Opposition dinner hold on Satueday night was a decided success. It is reported that Mr Whitaker’s appointment to the Upper House is likely to lead to some discussion and strong feeling. —O.D. Times.
