One of the most sue.cessAil'gatherings ever held within the walls) of the Volunteer Hall took place last night, when the children’s entertainment came off. This crept lias beeif looked forward UV bv young and old for some time past, and those who went last uigut had a genuine treat. The : hall was crowded to suffocation. Mr Cox was. in the chair. The following was the programme a rather lengthy one : —Address, Mr Johnston; pianoforte solo, Miss Campbell ; glee, children ; vocal duet, Misses Cox ; song, “ Fisherman’s Daughter,” M’'ss E-own ; recitation, Miss, M'Ca’.lom ; song (comic), Mr Stone ; reading Master Johnston ; reading, Master Fauyel ; song, Mrs Gumming; song, “Three Little Pigs.” Master Cox; glee, children; comic song, Mr Clinch ; solo (flute), Mr A. Cox; son", Mr F. Arenas ; reading, Mr Johnston (very humorous) ; recitation. Miss B. Brown ; song, “ Home, Sweet Home,” Mrs Gumming ; recitat’on, “ Nancy Brig,” Master F. Row’e; song, with piano and flute accompaniment, Miss Oox; glee, children;- “God Save the Queen.” It is proposed to form a prize fund with the proceeds, about £ll.
