The Goveenob. —It will be seen from a telegram which appears in another column that his Excellency left Sydney for New Zealand on March 16.. Auction Sale. —At the sale of surplus stock at Springfield, yesterday, the property of Mr John Paterson, satisfactory prices were not realised, and the most of the stock was passed in. Presbyterian Church. —The Kev Mr Bruce, one of the oldest settlers in the colony, will preach in the above Church next Sunday, at the usual hour. Land Sales. —A tracing af the Arowhenua Township sections for sale on the Bth of April can be seen at the stores of Messrs A. Wilson and Sons. Licensing Court. —The adjourned sitting of this Court was held on Wednesday last. The Court confirmed the temporary transfer made to Mr Tombs, of the Crown Hotel. G-eraldinb County Council —We understand that a special meeting of the Greraldine County Council will take place in the Road Board Office, Temuka, on Tuesday next, 25th instant, for the purpose of considering the advisability of bringing the whole of the Act into force. R.M. Couet. —On Wednesday, before A. LeGr. Campbell, Esq., R.M., Or. H. Thompson was fined 3s for cattle trespass. On Thursday William Thompson was charged with vagrancy and stealing from the person a watch, but was dismissed on both charges. Mil Holloway's Sale. Satisfactory prices were realised at this sale on Thursday, the attendance being fair. Milch cows brought £7los, a bay hack £23, and a grey filly £2B, and a lot of pigs were disposed of at good prices. Mr and Mrs Hart.—These exceedingly elevcr performers and their company will appear at the Volunteer Hall on Monday and Tuesday evenings next in their delightful drawing-room entertainment entitled " Happy Hours." Mr and Mrs Hart, wherever they Lave appeared, have always delighted their audiences from start to finish, so we can confidently assert that a Temuka audience will witness an entertainment that they will be delighted with also. The ' Sydney Morniug Herald' says:—" The operetta company of Mr E. A. Hart is one of the very best of the kind that has ever visited the colonies. It is much after the manner of the celebrated G-erman Peed entertainment in London. Mr E. A. Hart is equally good as an actor, singer, and dancer, and he has a capital coadjutrix in Miss Kate Russell. The versatility of these two artistes is rem,ai-lcable. Their protean changes are rapid and well managed, and to say all in a few words, they are a clever pair." Registration oe Votes. —Wo wish to draw the attention of residents in this district that all those qualified as voters, and whose names may not have been entered on the rolls, have now no time to spare. The Act provides that clerks of Road Boards shall furnish to the registration officer lists of persons entitled to be placed on the roll, but it is natural to expect that omissions will be made inadvertently, and as it is important to this district and to the colony that every voter should be on the roll, it is incumbent on every qualified person to see that his rights as a citizen are duly established. In our advertising columns recently Mr Bolton announced that he would undertake to supply filled-in forms to anyone desiring them. Now, as claims to vote must be sent in to the registration officer not later than Monday, the 31st of the present month, we again remind those whose names do not appear on the rolls that they will have but little time to consider what they intend doing in the matter. Sale of Crown Lands.—Our readers will be no doubt glad to learn that the Commissioner of Crown Lands has notified hi our advertising columns that it is his intention to direct a sale by auction, at the Crown Hotel, of several sections in the Arowhenua and G-eraldine townships. The sale will take place on Tuesday, the Bth April next. We beliove the reason the sale of sections is to be held in Temuka instead of Christchurch, as formerly, lias come about through a representation made to Mr Marshman some time by the Chairman of the G-eraleino County Council, showing the inconvenience intending purchasers here had in having to go to Christchurch. Music. —We are pleased to hear that Miss Mien intents to commence giving-lessons on the pianoforte on April 2nd. Mi3S Mein's ability as a pianiste and teacher of music is well known, and as the charges arc moderate, wo havo little doubt but heads of families will embrace the opportunity for educating their daughters in this fashionable accomplishment. Agricultural Show.—We have to remind our readers of the Agricultural Show and Ram Fair which will bi held on the Society's grounds, near Winchester. The Show will take place on Thursday, the 27th. and the Ram Fair and auction sales on

Friday, the 28th of the present month. A good Show is anticipated this year, and the Earn Fair will doubtless also be a success. Entrance at the gates after 12 will be Is for pedestrians, and 2s Gd for man and horse. A good opportunity is thus offered for a holidayi The leaping match is likely to be interesting, as we understand'many entries will be made for it. The sale of the booths and gates took place yesterday, at the Crown Hotel, Messrs M'Lean and Stewart being tile auctioneers. The licensed booth was sold for £l9 ; gates and right to charge for games, £l7 10s ; refreshment booth and fruit stalh £3 10s ; catalogues, £6. As there is likely to be a better show than there has been for some time past, these prices ought to pay the investers well.
