Slit. —My attention has been called to an article in your paper, published some time ago. x>ointi out what some kind friends have stated to be a misrepresentation made by me at the public meeting held in Geraldine to eoir-ider the advisability of adopting the Counties Act or otherwise. Finding that the information given to me by Air Sherratt, Clerk to the Geraldine Road Board, is incorrect, I think it only fair to myself to show how the error arose. I considered no one so likely to know as the Clerk, and he assured me in the presence of one or two others that the Geraldine Road Board District contained an area of more than 250 000 acres, and to strengthen his assertion he produced a book showing the returns he had made to Government of the area in 1874, -when Mr Tripp was Chairman of the Road Board. Since your notice of the error appeared, I have scaled the map myself, and find that the figures you quote arc tolerably correct.— I am, &c, Wjl, Po.STLHTH WAITE. Raukapuka. Geraldine, Feb. 24, 1879.
