Postlefhwaite, Esq., J.P.'s.] POLICE CASES. .Tames Anderson tc. charged by Ellen Dean with being (lie father cf an ilk-Ltiniate child, and (he offence being proved, (he defendant was ordered to pay 10s per week. -Tames Watkins was charged by the police with supplying a boitlo of whisky io the deceased John King whilst in a state of intoxication. Mr ITamersley appeared for the defndant. Two witnesses evidence for the prosecution, but it was not sufficient to prove that the man was intoxicated, and the ease was dismissed without going into any defence. CIVIL CASES. Wooffindin v. J. Jones.—Claim LI Is, rates. Through some informality in the service, and the rate being paid in the meantime, the plaintiff was nonsuited. W. J. Maslin v. J. F. Douglas.—Claim Ll2 Os 'id. Judgment by default, E. Bc=t v. Joseph Brown.—Claim L 3 8s sd. Judgment for plaintiff, with costs. James Watkins v. James ' Stevenson. —■ Claim L 5. Settled auf of Court. George Ward v, Malcolm M'lntyre. — Claim 15s. Case adjourned. Gcraldine lload Board v. J. E. Douglas.— Claim 7s Gd, for rates. Settled out of Court. SLAT/GUTER-HOUSE LICENSES. Licenses were granted to the following persons: —Wiliam S. Muslin, Gcraldine; D. M'CaTum, Temuka ; Trustees late Grimmer's estate, Gcraldine ; William Scott, Waihi Bush. Thomas Peacock, Timaru, was called upon to have his premises thoroughly cleansed, or his license will be cancelled. James Watkins was called upon to produce the advertisements notifying his intention to apply for a license. Thomas Blair gave notice of his intention to apply for a license next Court-day, and was ordered to advertise it. and otherwise comply with the Act.
