THE CHORAL SOCIETY’S PIANO.
(to the editor oe the temuka leader.) Sir, —A report reached me yesterday that the piano belonging to the late Temuka Choral Society, and winch was about to be disposed of by art union, was handed over for the use of the Masonic Ball on Wednesday evening, and further, that a party employed in decorating the building on a ladder had an awkward fall, considerably damaging the instrument. Now, Mr Editor, as one who feels a considerable interest and responsibility in the liquidation of the late Society’s debts, I wish to obtain a reliable account of the said accident, amount of damage done, &c. Sundry parties who put their name on mv list towards the sixty required for the art union came forward and said that the ins'rument is not worth by LlO what it was previous to the accident. When I first heard it I imagined it was a mistake altogether, as I am not aware that any one had authority to let or lend it, and as one of the committee I was not consulted. As I wish this report to be clearly explained to the public by those who are capable of so doing, I shall feel obliged by your allowing me space in your columns.—lam, &c., A Member of Committee.
