CRICKET.
On Saturday last aTemnka team visited Timarn, and received a severe beating, Timarn winning in one innings, with 34 runs to spare. The day was a most disagreeable one, rain falling a considerable part of the time—all the time, in fact, that Temuka was at the wickets. Timarn went first to the wickets, and put together a total of 134 Jones’ 35, Perry’s 29, and extras 4G, making up the bulk of the score. Jones’ innings—be going in third and carrying out his bat—was a very creditable one ; Perry’s innings, too, was a very valuable one, for to his clever backing up was mainly due the large score of byes. Tne score of Temuka does not make a pleasant show for them. The bowling of Beale was quite too good, his round-arm deliveries taking nine wickets for ten runs in the first innings, and his underhand slows 8 for 22 in t'e second innings. His slows were more effective ihan these numbers show, for most of the 22 were made before the s'ows were i ried. Toe visitors were hospitably treated, and, notwithstanding the unfavorable weather, enjoyed themselves. The following are the scores : TIMAKUC.C. FIRST INNINGS. F.
