[From Press Agency, Router'*, and * Globe' Special Telegrams, November 5 to 9.] At the meeting of the London Committee of the Australian Exhibition it tranipired that many exhibitors from Paris applied for space. France has appointed a representative to watch over her interests, *and will probably despatch her exhibits by a war vessel. A committee is forming at Paris to establish a permanent International Exhibition at Sydenham. The French Government, in consequence of the British occupation of Cyprus, require assurances respecting French interests in Syria and Egypt. The Marquis of Salisbury, in replying, expressed a desire for the co-operation of France and England regarding Egyptian affairs. The State elections and Congressional elections are over. They resulted in a great accession of strength to the Republican party in the Northern and Western States. The Democrats were victorious in the Southern States. France and Italy are jointly supporting the Greek demands on Turkey. Stanley left Cyprus fcr the Suez Canal. Thence he will go to England. The Czar's yacht, conveying General Grant and Duke Sergius from Livadia to Ooessa, foundered. No lives wei - e lost. Russia is fortifying Schumla, Silistria, and Widdin, instead of removing troops. . England and Austria have notified to Russia that they have agreed on a treaty to compel her to evacuate Turkey, in accordance with the Berlin Treaty. The Treaty was made secretly between England and Austria at the time of the Congress. It contained a proviso that in the event of Russia claiming, on the ground of .humanity, to preserve order and to remain in Turkey beyond the date that Congress specified, England and Austria should undertake police duties and compel Russia to evacuate Turkey. This was not intimated at the time to Russia. The only solution of the political difficonsidered possible is a revision of the Berlin Treaty. Four thousand Bulgarian militia massacred the Mussulman population and "burnt several villages, near Demotica. The Czar is in'precarious health. A..' Times ' telegram states that several thousand former Russian officers and soldiers have been permitted to volunteer for service with the Afghans. The money market is easy, and the Bank minimum unchanged. Discount rates are considerably below the Bank minimum. The Bank reserve is slightly better than last week. The stock markets ha - * e recovered a lirm tone, and Australian securities are resuming their usual activity. Consols, 95|. Wheat is firmer. The fai'urcs of Robert Forrester, of Glasgow, with heavy liabilities ; and Knightstown, of London, for LIOO,OOO, are announced. There is an epidemic of fever among the troops and residents in the Punjaub. . The mortality is large. ■ „ Samuel Phelps, the actor, is dead.
