Matson and Co., Christchurch, quote horses last week as follows : —Best heavy draiights. sound young horses, L 45, LSO to L6O ; medium do, L3O to L4O ; well bred hacks and carriage horses, L2O to L3O ; ordinary do, Ll 5 to L2O ; weeds from L 5 to Ll 5. J. T. Ford and Co. quote mutton at a shade over 3|d per lb ; beef from 35s to 37s 6d per lOOlbs. Respecting one of their sales they report : " In fat cattle we sold some magnificent animals on account of James Hurse, Esq., that would have done credit to any market town of England. Two steers under two years' old brought Ll 9 each, -one bulloek brought L 23 10s; one steer under two years brought Ll 5 ; two heifers brought Ll 7 each." Respecting store sheep they say : "We had a very limited supply of store sheep sent forward, and the demand for su h class of stock is daily improving. . . - Our paddocks are getting full of feed, and should we be fortunate enough to ha favored with a few more genial showers, we can safely calculate on a good demand for all classes of stores during the next three months.
