The following are the resnlts : Maiden Steeplechase of 40 sovs.; about two miles, over such country as the Stewards may appoint; for all horses that have never won a steeplechase of 20 sovs., matches and hack races excepted. Entry, two sovs., with a sweep of £1 Is, to go to the second horse. Weight for age. Siiverstream, 4 yrs, lOst 31bs (T. Sheehan) 1 Billy Button, aged, 12st 31bs (Hankins; ... 1 Betting—2 to 1 against Siiverstream and Pakeha, 3 to 1 Tommy and Baron, 4 and 6 to 1 against the others. P.ikeha, (Jronie, Nelly, Tommy, and Baron also ran. Shark was scratched, and Turk did not put in an appearance. Siiverstream won by a mile, the water jumps pulling up all but the two placed. Waitaki County Cup, a Handicap Steeplechase of 80 sovs.; about ,3 n iles, over such country as the Stewards may appoint.
